So I wanted to change the armor/gender of the Warden I selected in story mode, and couldn't find any in-game option to do so. Reportedly there's no option to do so even after completing story mode. So I figured, I'll just delete my save and start over. After some searching I discovered that the only data the game actually saves locally is your graphics and control options. Everything else is saved on Ubisofts servers/cloud. Even the single player data. So with no options left on my end, I contacted Ubisofts tech support. I was 200th in line for chat. So after about six hours of waiting I finally got in contact with an actual human being (I was also quite cranky about this issue by that point). Dillon A (2/17/2017, 1:08:38 AM): Thank you for contacting Ubisoft Live Support. Please give me a moment to review your case. In the meantime, feel free to add any additional information that may pertain to your issue, and I will be with you shortly.
Dillon A (2/17/2017, 1:11:42 AM): Hello there! Unfortunately the progression resets are not designed to reset the character selection choice. At this time there is no option to change the appearance once selected. My apologies for any inconvenience.
Me (2/17/2017, 1:12:24 AM): I realize there's no option for it. That's why I'm requesting that my save data be deleted so I can start over.
Dillon A (2/17/2017, 1:15:11 AM): As I've stated the resets we at Ubisoft have in place are not to reset your appearance decision as they are stored in a different system. At this time we are unable to change your appearance.
Me (2/17/2017, 1:17:01 AM): Does Ubisoft not run it's own servers for this game? How can you be unable to change data stored on your own servers? If someone else runs them then please tell me how to contact them to fix this.
Dillon A (2/17/2017, 1:17:35 AM): We run the servers but do not have the system in place at this time. My apologies for any inconvenience.
Me (2/17/2017, 1:18:23 AM): Then do it outside the system. Contact whoever is in charge or running that server and request they do this manually.
Dillon A (2/17/2017, 1:19:19 AM): Unfortunately, that request is not able to be made as that is not an option we have available at this time
Me (2/17/2017, 1:20:33 AM): Contact a supervisor then. It can't be impossible for one branch of a company to contact another.
Dillon A (2/17/2017, 1:21:22 AM): I can and have spoken with that branch of the company previously about this topic. This is not something we are able to do at this time. My apologies for any inconvenience.
Me (2/17/2017, 1:22:31 AM): Are the servers down? Does no one have access to them? Please explain how editing data on these servers isn't possible.
Dillon A (2/17/2017, 1:27:45 AM): The servers are not down, I have spoken to those who has direct access to the servers. At this time there is no option to change the appearance for the character once chosen. I am sorry, but we are not able to reset the decision. I will mark this as a complaint and forward this information to the team who has direct access to the servers to make sure they understand that this is something our player want available to them and that they should work on making this available in one form or another.
Me (2/17/2017, 1:31:42 AM): If there isn't an option to edit that setting then why were voice actors of both genders hired to record dialogue? What you're saying is that it is currently impossible for someone who bought a $100 game to experience any more than half its single player content. That it's not even possible to replay the game once finished. If the data can't be edited, than I'm sure it can at least be deleted. I'm not concerned with and lost progress as a result.
Dillon A (2/17/2017, 1:39:37 AM): I am sorry, but as I have stated I have spoken with the team in charge of the servers about this issue specifically. We do not have the means to grant you the chance of resetting your appearance at this time. I have sent up a report to the team requesting that they work on making this option available in one form or another. At this time I have no reports saying that this will become possible. Is there any other issue I can help you with?
Me (2/17/2017, 1:43:57 AM): activity
Me (2/17/2017, 1:44:55 AM): So do I have you on record as saying that Ubisoft has no way of editing the user data stored on its own servers?
Dillon A (2/17/2017, 1:45:39 AM): We have no way of allowing you to change the selected appearance for the For Honor story modes once selected at this moment.
Me (2/17/2017, 1:47:32 AM): That's not what I asked. Can Ubisoft edit or delete a user's personal data or not?
Dillon A (2/17/2017, 1:49:15 AM): We have no way of allowing you to change the selected appearance for the For Honor story modes once selected at this moment. There is no blanket statement for that question. Some items we are able to change some items we are not. When it comes to cloud based saved data it will always be handled on a per issue basis. This issue is one we are not able to edit at this time.
Me (2/17/2017, 1:51:15 AM): Se there is specific user data that Ubisoft is unable to edit or delete? If I were to make a legal request for a copy of, or deletion of that data, would Ubisoft be able to fulfill that request?
Dillon A (2/17/2017, 1:52:16 AM): Any legal request would go through our corporate office. If you would like an answer for that question I would recommend speaking with them.
Me (2/17/2017, 1:53:38 AM): It's a technical question though. I'm asking whether it is technically possible for Ubisoft to fulfill such a request.
Dillon A (2/17/2017, 1:53:47 AM): For this particular issue, no.
Me (2/17/2017, 1:54:17 AM): Thank you. That was my only issue today.
Dillon A (2/17/2017, 1:54:46 AM): If that was all you needed, I hope you enjoy the rest of your night!
Turns out the Ubisoft isn't able to edit or even delete save data on their own servers. If anyone else has this issue, please let me know if you have any more luck fixing it than I. And for those of you who don't have this problem yet, be absolutely sure you want the armor and gender you select during story mode. Since you may never be able to change it. I'd recommend watching some youtube videos of story mode to make sure you don't get stuck with a class/gender combination that has a voice you don't like.Dillon A (2/17/2017, 1:11:42 AM): Hello there!
